What is Cellular Data

Cellular Data is part of your cell phone service that allows for Internet access. Some cell phone plans have a limited amount of data, so turning off the Cellular Data feature can help keep your data use down. Basic text messages and phone calls still work without cellular data turned on.

Why Turn on Cellular Data

With Cellular Data turned on, your phone can continue to send and receive emails. The Apple iMessage advanced message features still work. If you are using GPS and map features, cellular data can provide you with updated maps, traffic, and other information.

What to Avoid with Cellular Data

When you are away from your home WiFi service or other WiFi connection, and using Cellular Data, you may want to avoid updating your phone’s software and apps. Also avoid streaming videos or excessive web browsing.
