Introduction

Your Kindle reader will have a unique email address assigned to it. You can send a PDF or Kindle formatted ebook to your Kindle. The email address will be found under Settings.

Once setup, sending a document is as easy as emailing it.

The document must be sent from a pre-approved email sender address. To add the sending address to the approved list, follow the instructions below for the initial setup.

STEP #1 — Device Email Address

Go to the main Amazon website and login.

You will now want to visit the “Manage Your Content and Devices” page.

A link to that page is at the bottom of the Amazon website. Above the many groups of small font links, you will see four columns of options. Under the “Let Us Help You” heading is a link for “Manage Your Content and Devices.”

When you click on that link you will be taken to the main page of “Manage Your Content and Devices.”

To find your device’s unique email address, go to amazon.com/myk#manageDevices

Click on the “Kindle” icon.

Under the Devices heading, your device name and unique email address will be displayed. Make a note of that email address.

STEP #2 — Preferences

From the Preferences tab/page, scroll to the bottom to find “Personal Document Settings.”

STEP #3 — Personal Document Settings

Click on the orange heading text “Personal Document Settings” to expand and view the options.

STEP #4 — Add a New Approved Email Address

At the bottom of the “Personal Document Settings” section, click on the blue text link for “Add a New Approved Email Address.”

Enter the email address in the small box provided, then click the orange “Add Address” button.

Now that email address can send books and documents to your Kindle reader.

Incomplete Instructions From Amazon

This document is based on incomplete instructions provided by Amazon via email on 15 Oct 2022. Below are the incorrect instructions.

  1. Visit Manage Your Content and Devices page.
  2. Sign-in to Amazon account.
  3. Go to “Personal Document Settings” under “Manage Your Content and Devices”.
  4. Under “Approved Personal Document E-mail List” click “Add a new approved e-mail address”.
  5. Enter the e-mail address to approve and select “Add Address.”
  6. Instruct the sender to resend the document(s).

What’s missing from the above instructions is the important step of going to the Preferences page and then scrolling down to Personal Document Settings — which is actually not found directly from the Manage Your Content and Devices.
